The Family Life Center was founded in 2008 by the late Rev. Constance Carter Davis England as a non-profit organization with an unwavering commitment to making positive change for children and families in Wyandanch.
In 2013, the Family Life Center assumed the operation of the Wyandanch Youth Center, where together with lifelong friends Rachel Williams Bailey, Julia Jackson and Yvonne Phinizy, Rev. Carter Davis England developed and administered programs like the New Beginnings Baby College, therapeutic counseling, Homework Help and other programs that would have significant, positive impact in the lives of children and their families.
The Family Life Center is driven by a powerful mission: to create a lasting and transformative impact on the social and emotional well-being of the children and families in Wyandanch and surrounding communities. Since assuming the operation of the Wyandanch Youth Center in 2013, it has served more than 12,000 students, serving more than 1,000 children and families each year.
What sets the Family Life Center apart from others doing similar work is its dedicated team of staff, volunteers, and board members who serve as the driving force behind its mission. The Family Life Center’s focus is not just on short-term solutions, but on creating long-lasting positive outcomes that will shape the trajectory of those it serves. It firmly believes that investing in the social and emotional well-being of children and their families is investing in the future.
The Family Life Center’s objective is to create a safety net woven so tightly that children can't slip through it..
